About Cikgu Tan

Founder of ABCT, published author, and a dedicated voice in Bahasa Melayu education.

Cikgu Tan

Known to his students as "Cikgu Tan" — Malay for "Teacher Tan" — and signing his class materials as Cikgu Tan CL, he founded Alam Bimbingan Cikgu Tan (ABCT) in Dataran Ara Damansara, officially launched on 29 February 2024 with a lion dance performance and ribbon-cutting attended by invited guests and dignitaries.

He personally teaches the Bahasa Melayu tracks at ABCT — both the national curriculum and IGCSE — bringing a literary, warm and humble voice to his teaching, often referring to himself with the classical humble pronoun "hamba" and closing his writing with original pantun (traditional Malay quatrains) of his own composition.

"Kalau kedidi lompat berlari,
Hinggap sebentar di ranting kenanga;
Kerana sudi bertandang ke mari,
Kubentang tikar bertabur bunga."

Cikgu Tan is also a published author. A visiting Bahasa Melayu lecturer from China was shown reviewing "the book I wrote" during a visit to ABCT — see Bookstore for more.
